Thor Trailer Analysis


The Hero: The Character on a Quest
  • We are introduced to Thor as an outsider. At this point, he is not a hero.
  • Thor is scared at first by what he sees, and freaks out. He is also very muscular.
  • Thor does not fit in and is still an outsider.
  • He discovers a book about how his past is all a legend.
  • Thor stands up against Thin Asgardian to protect the Helpers and their town.
  • Thor stands in front of Metal Man to protect the Princess and the Helpers.
 The Villain: Opposes the Hero or blocks them in their quest
  • Stone/Ice Men are seen fighting Thor in either the beginning or the climax.
  • Thin Asgardian with staff says "I will destroy their kind" which is a pretty evil thing to say.
  • "You will die with them!" shouts the Thin Man as he fires a magic-missile.
  • Metal Man towers above town and spews fire out of it's face at the town.
  • Very menacing looking man snarls at camera. He definitely looks menacing.
  • A scary stone/ice man tells Thor that he is inferior and that he doesn't know what he'll unleash.
  • Then a giant stone monster attacks Thor and friends.
 The Donor: Provides an object with important properties
  • The Princess and the Helpers help make Thor a hero.
The Dispatcher: Sends the hero on the quest
  • Odin sends Thor to Earth to guard the humans.
The False Hero: Disrupts the hero's quest
  • The menacing black man in gold armour looks like he is protecting something himself.
The Helper: Assists the hero
  • The three who meet Thor, including the Princess. It is obvious that they will bring Thor in and raise him as a human and a hero.
  • Are then protected by Thor.
The Princess: Acts as the reward for the hero
  • Woman sees Thor land on Earth.
  • He shares his secrets with her.
  • She is seen running away in distress.
  • Thor and her are seen very close to each other in one shot.
